The Studio

I teach from a light and fully equipped studio from my home in Balham. An initial assessment gives us an opportunity to meet and discuss in detail your history and requirements. I welcome people with a wide range of issues with an emphasis on remedial work. Because of my dance background I frequently work with dancers be they students or professionals who may need work on particular aspects of their technique or those getting back in to the studio following injury. With non dancers I work with those recovering from injury or surgery that may have impaired movement including those preparing for hip or knee replacement, breast cancer surgery and all aspects of post operative rehabilitation. Beyond that my interests include conditions such as frozen shoulder, neck and back pain, Parkinson's Disease and a particular interest in the health and mobility of ankles and feet.

Sessions are one-to-one and last for 70 minutes. I am eager to dispel the still commonly held belief that Pilates is predominantly for women - it is not! Men are as welcome as women. I am delighted to see people over the long term or simply over a few sessions as a diagnostic to identify points of weakness or imbalance and find solutions to these.

" I was super lucky to meet Christina for my first Pilates lessons. Apart from her skill and knowledge of Pilates that spans 26 years, and her 13 years before as a dancer at the Royal Ballet; she has a delicious sense of humour, a voice that manages to convey both calm and authority and an ability to communicate so precisely the perfect metaphor or description to help you execute and finesse the finer points of the sometimes elusive exercise in hand. I have worked with her for several years now, from when I first came limping into the studio, insisting nothing hurt and she gently suggested I might get an X-ray of my hip, through the preparation for a hip operation, online classes during the epidemic, to post-op re-hab sessions online and in the studio after that."
